Model Highlights
The Eclipse comes as a GS, GS Sport, or GT in either the coupe or Spyder configurations. The GS and GS Sport have a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 162 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The GT ups that to a 3.8-liter V6 with 265 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The GS comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission, though a 5-speed manual is available; the GT has a standard 5-speed auto with an optional 6-speed manual.
Airbags, stability control, electronic brake force distribution, tire pressure monitoring and anti-lock brakes are standard on all Eclipses. The Spyder has an automatic cloth top with a glass rear window and full headliner that folds in 19 seconds.
The GS includes standard power mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and a split-folding rear seat. The GS Sport adds HID projector-type headlamps as well as heated leather front seats with a 6-way power driver's seat. The GS Sport, GT and all Spyder models add standard Bluetooth connectivity and a Rockford-Fosgate sound system with Sirius satellite radio. GS Sport and GT models add a rearview camera, while the GT gets auto climate control, steering wheel audio controls, and a power sunroof.
An Accessory Sport Aero Kit, available on GS Sport coupe and GT coupe and Spyder models, adds a color-keyed front air dam, side sill extensions, and a rear corner air dam, while a Accessory Appearance Package, also available on the GS Sport and GT, adds an alloy fuel door, wheel locks and sport front floor mats.

Model News
For 2011, the Mitsubishi Eclipse sees only minor changes. A new GS manual transmission model will be released mid-year. The GS Sport trim features heated leather seats and a power driver's seat and high-intensity headlamps and 18-inch wheels. The GT gets new 18-inch wheels, and the Rockford Fosgate stereo now has Sirius Satellite Radio.

Value Writeup
For sporty driving on the cheap, the Eclipse has been a go-to car for years in either coupe or spyder form. A strong standard safety features list, much available equipment and a highway fuel economy rating of 28 miles per gallon on the highway make it a smart choice for sporty commuting.
